The MC, Terry Little, held the commencement service after which the flag was lowered to half-mast by Trevor Sangston of the Wundowue Fire Service/St Johns, after which Terry welcomed the Rev. Tom Morriison to say the ANZAC prayer which the reverend followed with the poems We shall remember them written by Robert Laurence Binyon and one called Grandpa what did you do in the war? - both of which were very poignant.
The reverend finished by saying "they gave their tomorrows for our todays and gave us a lifestyle that we enjoy and take for granted - war is ugly and too painful".
Wreaths were laid on behalf of the RSL, The Shire of Northam, Wundowie Progress Association and members of the community after which Hugh Williams said the Ode - the MC mentioned it was fitting that Hugh gave the Ode as his father was in the 10th Light Brigade at Gallipoli.
The last post was played, followed by a minutes silence and then the flag was raised to full mast by Trevor Sangston during the rouse and the Prayer of Remembrance and then the National Anthem.
Everyone then went to the hall for the traditional Anzac biscuit and cuppa and all hoped this will be end of our boys in the Middle East.
